Are our soldiers Hero's?

Having come across a group on facebook that says they aren't, I started wondering.
Now if you ask a soldier if he is a hero you will hear a resounding NO. At the end of the day all they are doing is their job, something they signed up for. I really don't care about the group calling themselves this, but what I do care about is what they have on the front of their group...see below

All you will need is:* A white T-Shirt – Any one will do* A phrase of protest such as the following to have printed on your shirt:(e.g)

"Peterborough 2008: I was there"

"Soldiers are not heroes, footballers are"

"Proud not to murder civilians for a living"

"Everyone knows soldiers are best covered in egg"

"War is wrong... But don't tell soldiers"

"I don't support the troops, nor will I stand in front of them"

"I was raped by soldiers and all I got was this lousy t-shirt"...

You could put all sorts on there. The Idea is that we all get our t-shirts printed then on :********* 25th August ********We all don our shirts and smugly toddle off out for the day in them.If you want to take part you don't have to do anything else but get the T-shirt and wear it all day... MASS protest and any one can do it...

Alll you are doing is being seen publicly denouncing these mass murderers. How good would it feel to mosey on down your high street and see loads of other people going about their business and still taking part in a silent, peaceful yet effective protest?

May i suggest that we keep it uniform (pun not intended) and all use the same or similar font/colour to print our message so that you instantly recognise your fellow free-thinker on the street. Will post some ideas ASAP.After the huge sucess of t-shirt day, a campaign has now started to make every 25th of August the official 'soldiers are not heroes day'.

Now while I agree that our soldiers fight for freedom of speech etc, I think that this group is pushing it a bit to be calling our soldiers rapists murderers baby killers etc. Not only that but they took over a group calling for Sarah's Law which is why they seem to have so many members...
Of course they are entitled to their own opinions, it's just a shame they use provocative language to get their message across....

As the dust settles the soldier looks round
At this hot and dusty piece of foreign ground
This is home for the next six months
He hangs his head for just a second
Then thinks "Best get on with it I reckon"

He stores his gear in a tent
Flak jacket and helmet on
He goes to explore his new home
He looks over the wall where the guns are trained
Praying that to use them he won't be afraid

He thinks of home and those he left behind
Six months he thinks will soon fly by
His mother he knows is worried sick
And thinks i'll write her in just a tick
His father has done this thing before
But he doesn't really know the score

The letters and parcels cheer him up
Magazines sweets and news from home
He shares what he gets with those
At this place that is his temporary home
Share and share alike they all say
Not just the goodies also the dangerous play
They watch out for each other
And begin to think of each other asa band of brothers

They live and play eat and sleep
In this lonely battle keep
They think of home and comforts there
But know this experience they will not share

To those who think our soldiers just bring them shame
Because they fight in a war that is not in their name
It's because of these brave lads and lasses that you sleep safe
Most soldiers want peace not hate....

Haven't been on here for a while...I have had a really heavy cold, not man flu...couldn't have been man flu because I didn't go to bed and just lay there dying.

After I was over the worst of it I decided to take my little one down to the local park to fly his helicopter that he had for Christmas, (he hasn't been able to fly it before as the weather hasn't been good enough).

Anyway there we are stood in the middle of the rugby pitch, we put the helicopter on the grass, and yaaaayyyyy we had lift off for about 15 seconds then I crashed it....So I had a 5 year old looking at me and saying"Your not very good are you!!". After that it wouldn't take off again. so now I have it on charge and am hoping that it will once again soar into the air, and this time hopefully for longer. Maybe he would be better with the controls.

Well the snow has fallen over parts of the UK ...and guess what ....YES roads and schools even airports are closed( or were for a while)..... WE haven't had much here so the school will still be open.

I remember when I lived in Germany for a while...they got on with it, the snow falling didn't stop them ...why oh why can't the Brits???

I phoned to school to be sure they were open and was told by a teacher..."yes we are open, but...if it starts snowing be prepared to get a phone call and come and collect your child/children, you can send them if you want it's up to you"...as at the time it was snowing I didn't send them...It's okay me walking two miles in the snow to get them but can you imagine them walking home.....

Will we grind to a halt again???

Today is Sunday and it's freezing outside. They have forcast snow for tomorrow...if it does snow then the school won't open( or if it snows when the kids are in school we will all get phone calls to tell us to go and pick them up) as this country grinds to a halt when the white stuff begins to fall.
The village I live gets cut off from the outside world if we have more than 2" of the stuff, so people will start panic buying in the local shops, all the bread and milk will go, and the shops will start rationing it......me I keep dried milk in the cupboard, and I have a bread maker and all the stuff I need to make my own...but that is beside the point, why does this happen everytime we have a bit of the white stuff...it's not as though the powers that be haven't been warned this weather is on the way..can't they just prepare for it. Of course they can't that would be to logical.

Is this his future?????

I'm sat here watching my 5 yr old play with his Thomas Train set, and I began to wonder what his life will be like when he's an adult living in the uk...

He'll be able to access the internet through broadband anywhere in the UK. Although he won't be allowed to own a PC save energy and all that.

He won't be able to eat in his own house, it will be communal food halls, just to make sure no one eat anything that is bad for them and can cause obseity. Although the powers that be will be able to.

He won't be allowed to have transport of his own, he will have to use communal transport, global warming and all that, although the powers that be will have their own.

He won't be able to grow his own food, that will be done in state run farms, just to make sure they are the right size and shape.

He will only be allowed to wear clothes that are recycable.

He will only be allowed to have lights on at certain times, we need to save power you know.

He will not be able to exercise for longer than half an hour each day, the co2 the body puts out when exercising is bad for the enviroment.

All cows will be kept in one place so the co2 they give out can be harnessed and put to good use.

It will be a society of don't do as I do do as I tell you.....

For those who think this can't happen....don't hold your breath....

Every home will have.....

Gordon Brown has said that every home, school doctors surgery etc will have broadband by 2012.
Hey what does it matter that thousands are losing their jobs and homes every month, just so long as everyone has got broadband.

I saw on the news that one school in London said they couldn't teach without the internet...All the pupils were sat facing a big screen watching it...bit like using the internet as a babysitter while the teachers did what?????
When I was in school there was no internet, we used books, pen and paper..did research in the library from books. Then again we knew how to read and write before we left school, hey maybe I'm old fashioned but I believe in the three R's.

What happens if you don't want broadband in your house are they going to make you take it? Say you don't have, need or want a computer in your house maybe it will go something like this.....

Knock on door
HH (Householder) Yes can I help you?
BBF(Broadband fitter) Hello I have come to connect you up to broadband.
HH But I don't want broadband.
BBF Sorry, the Government has said every home must have broadband.
HH I don't have a phone let alone a computer.
BBF Don't have a computer??, what do you do with yourself in the cold dark nights.
HH I read books
BBf Books what are they?
HH Eh you what?
BBf Only joking I know what books are, but that is old fashioned and you can read lots more on the internet.
HH No thanks, I like reading books
BBF Sorry but I have to install this
HH I'm not letting you in
BBF That's okay, I'll let myself in when you go out, I'm allowed to do that you know I am also food police.
HH But I'm living in a tent, on a traffic island in the middle of a main road, where are you going to put it.
BBF Tell you what, you apply for planning permission the extend your tent 5 inches and I will put it out here,
HH planning permission to extend my tent..your kidding..
BBF No you are not allowed to extend any dwelling without planning permission. While I'm here I will check out your food stores as well, make sure you have nothing illegal like full cream milk etc.
HH Go away.
BBF Nearly finished installing it, I will be gone soon
HH This is pointless.
BBF This is the Governments way of making sure every home has has the same opportunity.
HH Why not use the money to create some jobs, or lift people out of poverty, give to the NHS or schools.
BBF Just doing my job mate, not my job to tell the Government what to spend tax payers money on.

After the BBf has gone the HH goes down to local travel agents and books a one way ticket to the moon .....only to find when he gets there that Gordon has got there first and is installing broadband ............
